This is based on that O. Henry short story where the safe cracker in hiding from the police reveals his identity by rescuing the kid locked in the bank vault.
Durand finally reveals himself as a doctor dedicated to treating people…..how nice. That will surely appeal to the gendarme’s sense of retribution and allow him to go free to eat all of those delicious huge Bologani sandwiches! Next up, now French fat-boy Jacques Durand attacks Betty Cole in her French maid’s costume when she makes her surprise appearance…..tune in.
This reminds me of the film “The Greatest Show On Earth”. James Stewart was a doctor in hiding from the law for the mercy killing of his wife. You never saw his face. He always appeared in clown make-up. But when disaster hit he came to the rescue and saved Charleston Heston’s life.
