i guess this is a scenario that could happen in real time…..someone probably will someday do this…..unless this toon is referring to something that has occurred?….i did a quick perusal with google and did not find any reference to a suicide on zoom but that does not mean something is not out there…..pretty dark toon….any interpretations anybody?
Positioning the gun like that will blow out the optic chiasma in the brain making you permanently blind but maybe not dead. Not that I’m advising better ways of doing yourself in, the NRA is much more accomplished at promoting firearms for self defense that often turn into self destruction. A gun is only good for killing, nothing else. Which is why I refuse to own one, and get weary of my neighbors who want to take on “thet gud-dayum govmint tryin’ to stop my haircuts” with their ridiculous arsenal. I don’t get this ’toon. I know suicide does not need a virtual booster club.
In those videos, I try to read titles of books on the shelves behind. That usually tells more about the person than what they’re saying — unless the books are props meant to impress. My bookshelves are so disorganized, they wouldn’t impress anybody.
“Every 1 percent hike in the unemployment rate will likely produce a 3.3 percent increase in drug-overdose deaths and a 0.99 percent increase in suicides, according to data from the National Bureau of Economic Research and the medical journal Lancet.”
Did you watch that video from Brunswick, GA? Murder/suicide has been happening for some time in USA. Racism is rife in the USA. Did you see the Nazi flags in Michigan?
Ted has captured the unnaturalness of Zoom – even without the suicide. I notice that Blake is the only one with nothing in the background, all the others are in office/home office situations. There’s more depth to this than meets the eye on a first look.
I was very shocked by this cartoon at first but after reviewing it, I think Ted might be commenting on social distancing especially during thecorona virus. We see the first five characters apparently nonchalantly watching Blake’s Zoom feed from their own computers, either unable or uninterested in stopping what is about to occur but willing to join Blake’s invitation.
My brother sees a psychiatrist once a month; the Doc told him that in the last 2 weeks, he had admitted 7 patients to the hospital. Terrifying for those poor people.
Okay, the one with the pistol is labeled “Blake”. Is that meaningless or is this about a real suicide by someone named Blake who is sufficiently famous/infamous that we might have heard of him?

What?!
I can imagine this, but I have a pretty dark imaginer. Is this about something that really happened?

Is there a point being made here? Because I’m not getting it, and I’m finding this pretty insensitive.
