I had exactly that dress when I was young, a red velveteen sailor’s dress. Right before we were supposed to go out, I went with my brothers to walk our dog, who was an exuberant golden retriever. I begged them to let me hold the leash, “just for a minute.” Needless to say, the big guy sensed someone smaller on the other end of the leash and took off through the muddy cornfield. Knowing how hard he was to catch when he got loose, I hung on doggedly (pun intended), and I ended up looking just like April, except at the front!

Georgia, I know a lot of what is in your strips is based on your real life. I hope you are getting lots of love from those gatitos to get you through the January blues, if you have them. Your strips bring a lot of joy to your readers, and we all love you and those crazy boys and girls. I count at least 8 commas missing in that sentence (9 if you use the Oxford comma), but there are only 7 commas at the end. Also, “which” should be “that.”

This cartoon wouldn’t make any sense if the roles were reversed. That’s the point. And equality under the law doesn’t mean men and women are the same, just that they have the same rights, get paid the same for the same work, etc.

The activists who are out in the streets and organizing for social justice every day are hardly the ones to blame for this—it’s unlikely that they were the ones who sat out the election. The ones who sat out the election were the nonactivists who just weren’t inspired by what the Democratic Party had to offer. And a lot of the ones who came out for Trump were the old working-class Democratic base that the party has ignored for years. Let’s stop blaming the activists. They voted—they just think that’s not enough…
