I used to put a towel on the burping shoulder before burping my kids precisely for that reason. Even so, I don’t know why Elly put the baby carrier right over the dripping wet “baby blurp” without toweling herself dry or changing her shirt. Eww!!

As astonishing as that it is, the implication of Michael’s incredibly filthy back while having a clean front raises a lot of questions on how he got that way. I know the traditional way teenagers get dirty backs and clean fronts, but Martha doesn’t seem to be anywhere around.

Guess what , Michael. The first is the worst, and you were first-born.

At least a baby’s messes are not her fault. Big kids on the other hand…

When you are new parents you tend to look forward to the day they can feed themselves and go to the bathroom on their own. Then you look forward to the day you can leave them at home alone for a little while. Eventually you begin to wish they were little again and all of their problems could be solved with clean diaper and a fresh bottle.

My grandmother always said “When they are little, they have little problems. When they are big, they have big problems.” As my four children grow up (now ages 13 through 20) I see the wisdom in that so very clearly.

Older kids are not easier to look after. You can just take a little longer between looks.

Mom didn’t raise them right. They should have learned by now to pick up after themselves. Soon, mom will be picking up after the third one. Just my 2 cents….I didn’t say that I taught mine to act better…. : D

For what it’s worth, I was in the Nat’l Guard when my youngest son was an infant. He spit up often enough on my BDU field jacket to bleach the left shoulder a bit. He’s 36 now, so no longer a problem.

Babies are easier – you KNOW where they are. Teenagers, not so much.
