Top-entry litter boxes are the way to go. All digging debris stays in the box, and any extra left on their paws is shed on the lid rather than on the floor.
Well, this is prescient. I had to clean up a huge pile of litter in front of one of the downstairs boxes this morning. I wonder which cat has figured out how to use my tablet and get onto this site?

Be grateful for litter boxes. You don’t have to walk Mittens at 4:00am on a snowy or rainy night to ‘do his business’.
