The funny thing is that these headlines are mostly accurate. The Corona virus won’t kill all of us, but it’ll kill MANY of us. Climate change will kill us ALL, at a slower speed. Trump IS a Russian agent, but I don’t think Putin is crazy enough to want to see the virus spread. Trump did try to start a war with Iran but the Iranians didn’t take the bait. He may succeed the next time.
President Trump was supposed to visit the CDC in Atlanta on Thursday, but promptly cancelled. He did make the visit Friday. The reason for the delay was a report that an employee of the CDC had been tested for the Covid-19 virus. When the the report came back negative, the trip was hastily rescheduled. I point this out only because Mr. Trump has been loudly telling everyone that Covid-19 is no more dangerous than the common cold or the flu, more of a nuisance than a real threat; that we should carry on our normal activities, even go to work; that cancelling events is an over-reaction; that he intends that no rallies be cancelled, he’ll continue shaking hands, there’s nothing to worry about. So he says.
Except, apparently, it’s a case of “Do as I say do, not as I do.”
Yes, there may be a bit of insanity in our reaction to Covid-19 but anything that has the potential to kill 68 times the rate of the flu needs to be taken seriously. We are now being urged not to shake hands. I have a friend who has practically no immune system so he always does a fist bump so as to cut down of transferred germs. I might start bowing Chinese style. Appropriate as Covid-19 seems to have largely come from China.
In January, Chinese posted the genome for the Covid-19 virus and German scientist created a test kit for it. The World Health Organization sent test kits to over 60 countries, but not the United States. The United States government decided to create their own test kits. The intial test kits did not work. The US government is having trouble producing the test kits. No one knows who made the decision not to use the working kits from WHO, but Trump claims that his gut tells him that the information from WHO is not true.
In his speech at the CDC March 6, Trump said he wanted the passengers on a cruise ship that tested positive for Covid-19 stay on the ship so the number of people infected in the US wouldn’t count those numbers because it would be bad PR.

I actually kinda like this ’toon. Surprised the heck out of me!
Not the cleverest thing I’ve seen today, but a step above Payne’s usual drivel. Plus he’s poking fun in a direction that I agree with. This time.

He should preach his hyperbole to Wall St. which doesn’t seem to agree with him. I thought he supported Wall St fat cats.

Most right wing cartoonists rail against strawmen. Payne enjoys attacking strawnewspapers.
