Opal just likes to throw some shade at Earl.

She is very passive aggressive.

Make a deal with Earl, Opal: you’ll sew the button when he fixes the kitchen sink’s garbage disposal (or any other task you’ve been hounding him about).

While he’s waiting for the button, he can wear the shirt that’s too tight in the belly.

As a pragmatist, I agree with her. Grease it once. Maybe twice. Then get an upgraded component.

My mother taught me and my brothers (3) how to sew, iron, darn socks that had holes and cook.

Getting feisty there Opal? This reminds me of the joke I have seen several times: “When a man says he will fix something he will fix it. There is no need to remind him every six months.” Guess this is the female version of it.
