The Founders’ worst nightmare was a demagogue like Trump.
What they feared most was foreign interference with our domestic operation, especially after a war of independence with may British loyalists still lurking around (the conservatives, known as “Tories” in that time, just as today’s Conservative Party in the U.K. goes by the nickname “Tories” even now).
The Founders, as evidenced by Alexander Hamilton’s writings in the Federalist Papers, envisioned such a demagogue, and instituted safeguards to protect our democratic republic (representative government through elected officials).
What they did not anticipate, sadly, is the scenario in which the checks and balances would fail because of a Senate complicit in aiding and abetting the crimes against democracy.
Thanks that you tolerate my submitting ‘way-too-many rhymes. Today I’m sending a batch accumulated during the weekend’s bad news that the RepCong is letting The Donald off-the-hook.
Is anyone really surprised at this outcome? The US Senate has now clearly stated that the law is their servant. It is no longer the guardian of “We the People,” but an instrument to silence dissent, and further the interests of the rich and powerful. All that remains to be done is an announcement that the Senate, like that of ancient Rome, will declare a Dictator Perpetuo, rendering expensive and time-consuming elections unnecessary.
“We the people” to the founders were the well educated or self educated like Hamilton who could read the Greeks and Romans in the original language, had an independent level income, were land owners. These men, they put in the Senate to suppress the wild demands of the people’s representatives. They never imagined a Senator McConnell or Graham.

Its up to the public to stop voting for the crooked lying rouge Republicans who don’t obey the law or recognize the Constitution of the United States of America.
Ha, King George III was correct and he has his revenge: The colonies are quite incapable of governing themselves by Rule of Law and need a strong king or emperor to tell them what to believe and how to behave. And Trump shall rule them.
The Republicans didn’t lose their backbones to disease, they sold them cheap to special interests, or maybe just gave them up to the extortionist in chief. To confess the evidence proved Bonespurs guilty indeed on the charges, but what is good for him is good for the USA, so he’s innocent??? No backbone, and stole livers from lilies.
Toles, you goofed….It’s called the Lackabackbona virus. It causes a spine to turn to jelly, throwing the victim down onto the floor on all fours. And the victim then says hello, just as dogs do.

Republican Disease – {4 beats/line}
To protect against this RepCong disease,
let’s lock out the culprits and throw away the keys, -
- and keep on our guard lest a Trumpist reprise
might have them return with more feces and sleaze.

Sooner or Later – {2 beats/phrase}
Forget about it. // Let it ride.
Don’t fret about it. // We Democrats tried
to take Trump out, // – but the RepCong side
backed themselves out, // – and wouldn’t provide
the requisite votes, // – so The Donald’s team gloats.
But we optimists note // that we’ll get his goat
sooner or later. // {The dadburn’ dictator.}

Too Many Rhymes – {limerick}
My Muse tends overly prolific.
Too bad her rhymes aren’t terrific, -
- and they’ve limited themes
such as Trumpism memes, -
- and they’re tediously soporific.
… Coda:
These rhymes you can readily skip; -
- just scroll with your fingertip.

How Low Can They Git? – {2 limericks}
The RepCong might vote to acquit{!!},

How low can they git? -

who as prez is so yuugely unfit?
…
Let’s throw a hissy fit
and dump ‘em lickety-split
at the next election, -

which Trump-supporters transmit.

The Guilty Party – {4 beats/line}
A Senate which is with Trump compllcit
is constitutionally highly illicit.
Who is guilty? Let’s be expllcit: -
- the Repugnantan Party. We oughta dismiss it.
… Coda:
It’s utterly clear; – it’s quite implicit
that the Trumpian arse they shouldn’t kiss it.

Wait… how can they get a virus that affects a body part that NO REPUBLICAN SENATOR HAS????

“Held Back in Class”
.
Some may not believe in the Theory of Evolving,
But we now have undeniable proof of Devolving:
Republican senators, in their vote of late
Have devolved to the the status of Invertebrate.
The stable “genus” called a halt to Progression,
Has indeed turned many things backward in Regression!
.
Whatever taxonomic nomenclature,
Those senators are an aberration of Nature.
They all cogitate, “ergo sunt,” (or so it seems);
They have their hopes for the future, they have their dreams.
But without their spines, are they really women and men —
Or insects or worms; or at best octopuses, then?
.
As they float or ooze or crawl through their lives now on,
Will they sometimes yearn for a freedom that is gone?
Will they look up from the bottom of their senate tank
And see a small hand sprinkling food flakes? Will they thank
Him with pet-like praise and submissive adoration?
Or regret in some dim way their subjugation?

By the time this year’s Spring has sprung,
our culture by its neck will be hung,
our democracy to the trash-heap flung. …
… Not even the gorgeous Springtime greenery
will hide the Repugnantans’ abject obscenery
of monkey-wrenching the gummint’s machinery
so’s The Donald the Rs can more fully empower
