It’s true. Proportional and measured response is something we saw from Iran more than we did from Trump Admin. US killed their top general and number 3 government official and Iran’s response was a warning strike resulting in zero casualties. Now that is serious restraint by a labeled “Terrorist nation state and it’s military”.
In the U.S., per the Constitution, ONLY Congress can declare war, but Trump is trying very, very hard to start one. First there was the overt assassination of an Iranian gov’t official (and despite his history being a gov’t official does make a difference in what such killings mean as opposed to killing bin Laden). Then Trump had his press statement about it that sounded like a 12 year old talking about a video game rather than real people dead, and also threatened to destroy important cultural sites which is a war crime. Then when Iran kept its response low key Trump accused Iran of blowing up the Ukrainian plane even though pilots in the area said they saw a fire instead. More sanctions were expected so let’s ignore those. Now the Trump Administration actually released the info that it tried to kill another Iranian gov’t official. Trump is really, really, really trying to pick a fight.
I think this is three fold. Mostly, I think he want to be able to declare an emergency and begin martial law. Secondly, I think he wants a distraction, especially if the courts continue to judge against him for his financial records disclosures. Finally, he probably sees it as an election year wave to his strangest evangelical supporters: the ones who want their second coming mythology to play out in their lifetimes.
I have no idea if Iran will continue to respond in the more measured way that it has been, but that is doing them good on the world stage so it might. If so, then my suspicion is that the smartest things it could do is to find and release supported materials on Trump’s health (Remember that he did not release a health report this year but in the year before his cholesterol meds which he was already on at rather high doses were taken very high.), on his financial aspects (for example, more on who backed his Deutsche Bank loans), on the accusations that he was an active participant in Epstein’s attacks on children, etc.
Frightening but true. Also, frankly, if the Iranians want to cause the most harm to #45, they can refuse to participate in this distraction maneuver so impeachment once again becomes the real issue. Evidently THEY have smart people in THEIR State Department.

I posted something about ‘collateral damage’ the other day. Ukraine International Airlines, perhaps? Yes, Trump has blood on his hands too.

Most.. if not all.. of the accusations made against Iran could be made against America as well.

Iran signed a nuclear deal under Obama. That’s more than enough reason for Trump to prefer any military option regardless of the consequences.
