Patriots must stand against this moral and intellectual bankruptcy of the Republican party. Hold your nose, close your eyes if you have to, but your country needs you to vote blue, no matter who.

I get that Varvel thinks the option on the right — the violent, explosive, destructive option — is the better of the two. But why? The option on the left — freeing up Iranian money (not our own) — resulted in agreements that were working, that were stopping Iranian nuclear ambitions and even creeping toward an incorporation of Iran back into the larger international community. This explosive option, after already blowing up the nuclear agreement, is just more of the mentality that says: “It’s easier to destroy than to build, so let’s destroy lots of stuff!”
The resident is a hero to the theocrats who would overturn the Constitution and purge the population of those who are unwilling to submit to their beliefs. Not the inclusive loving Christianity where the good Samaritan (Palestinian) was welcome but an exclusive, biased, reading/interpretation of scriptures where hate and violence are permitted against “others” who do not conform to their interpretation. The resident also does not see any personal advantage in the Constitution and would have special liberty and justice for whites and evangelicals and the wealthy creating a nationalist society where birthright has a priority over merit or accomplishment. The resident has a racist hatred for his predecessor and is trying to undo all his accomplishments (e.g. peace with Iran, effective accessible healthcare, etc).
Society is moving away from religion and to a kinder place, so this is sort of a last stand, an attempt to turn back the tide … yet even in the article claiming growth of this pseudo-Christianity, we see that it is actually in decline. We are behaving like a dictatorship, not a world leader. What good will come of war with Shiites which when cleary our enemies were the Sunnis (Taliban, ISIS, etc).
The International Court said they’d rule to return the cash assets seized by Carter in 1979 from Iran. Obama returned that cash, but not all the interest earned since 1979, which Iran protested. Obama put that money in our treasury.
Varvel, telling half-truths is dishonest. Telling the whole story is honest.
