Well, the GOP established that precedent with Clinton, but I have to ask, Ted, do you honestly think that this impeachment is about “inane drivel”? Really?
Do you think that this incredibly corrupt president, who has already been documented as doing more than Nixon ever shown during his administration — not just ADMITTED criminal activity, but cover ups, and treason, too — is unworthy of impeachment?
The Republicans/conservatives have already been there for a long time. How many Benghazi investigations were there?!? The only reason they didn’t actually try and impeach Obama is because they needed him to finish cleaning up the economic mess Bush left behind.
The sad but true state of things is that Democrats, on the whole, want to play fair and only pursue actual wrong doing. Republicans/conservatives never think Democrats are legitimate and so anything goes.
Remember, it was just a few years ago that the Republicans impeached a president, under whose leadership we experienced our greatest period of prosperity and peace in our history, because he had a consensual extramarital affair and didn’t want to talk about it publicly.
Democrats only impeach for serious reasons, but you may be right if we get a President Warren with a Republican House of Representatives.

The earth burns While we sing dirges in the dark. Won’t some real leader-traitor bring light down from the Mount? So we can see again. So he can have his liver pecked out by an eagle every day?
If this was the case Trump would have been impeached 100 times by now. The Dems have been annoyingly patient with this child in the oval office. And lets not forget (because the right keeps pushing the lie) the Mueller investigation was NOT a Dem investigation. But with that said… 45 basically doubled down on what he was being investigated for in that investigation … Only this time not only did he seek the help of a foreign government… he tried to force it by holding the aid and white house meetings hostage til they complied with his demands. There has been no disputing this… because they can’t. The only defense is crying about the process (which they implemented mind you) … and crying about it being rushed (???). I agree though… the petty cut off the nose to spite the face pubs, will continue to try any underhanded way to keep power… including impeachment. But this is NOT what is being done in this case.
The thing is, I’m not sure that if we really mess it up and the Republicans take over the House and if Warren is elected that this isn’t just a realistic scenario. A bit pessimistic to think that it would happen to all presidents, but almost inevitable in the above case.
Republicans impeached for lying about oral sex. Pelosi impeaches for a phone call (and rampant obstruction, but still…). She DIDN’T impeach for lying the country into a war that caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people (George Bush), and she hasn’t impeached Trump for all his other crimes. But hey, “Vote blue no matter who”. (Progressives need not apply).
Trump is the head of a criminal organization he inherited from his father. That’s somewhat true of GW, but not of Obama, Clinton, Nixon, or Reagan. He is as careful as Capone about getting caught and has done plenty of crime that can’t be proved in court. The law has been looking for a way for years. Some have compared him to Hitler, but he is more like Napoleon Buonaparte, and even more like Nero. We are going down the same road as all empires have. We shouldn’t be surprised.
In the future, no president will be impeached because regardless of legal or illegal, no politician will want to deal with the potential political cost. Political ideology has supplanted the archaic concepts of right and wrong.
