I think it’s more like floating in a “void” than falling. Note the water escaping the bottle as seen in demos from the space station. It’s a metaphor for the both the space between her ears and the lost feeling she will have when she finds that she’s been swindled.
Interesting- considering that many of our readers know what happens to Rita when she clicks on spam email, and sometime even quote previous mishaps- I kind of assumed that this one would explain itself. I hoped it was clear that no background meant a void. There is no physical reality through which she can be falling.
