About a dozen years ago, a business on the main street I lived off of had the cabling fail for their giant rooftop inflated Santa. The local newspaper had some great pics of horrified drivers dodging the tumbling thing.
I had an ex-BIL who had a huge inflatable King Kong on his front lawn (along with some pink flamingos) replete with lights & tinsel for Christmas one year. This went over really well with his neighbors in the staid, conservative area of Vancouver, BC where he lived.
