Oh boy. Farley could have walked on the snow to that tree and peed on it without any problem. Shoveling a path to the tree is on the extreme side. Yeah, I know, this is just a comic and the goal is the funny.
We don’t get a lot of snow in north Georgia, but even a couple of inches was enough to have me out sweeping a path from the back door and making a clear spot in the yard for our Chihuahua, Jack. It was the only way to keep him from dragging his tender parts through the cold stuff. He refused to go out otherwise.
Our first snow this year was 8.5" and I was surprised to see the squirrels playing in (tunneling through) it. Never knew them to do anything but eat from sunrise to sunset.
I used to live in snow country, but it is going to be in the mid 70’s today in San Diego, so perhaps I’ll swing by the beach. As you can tell, I don’t miss it at all.
We did the same when we had our dogs. They had two or three paths, depending on how much snow fell, just so they could have a nice run and we didn’t have to take them for a long walk on those days…

Our sheepdogs all loved the snow. Cold weather, too. When it got cold out, we had to drag them inside.
