Funny how Ramirez skips over those who took Bush to task for being friend with (their words) “Ellen Degenerate”. Neither side has a monopoly here. No one should tell anyone who they should be friends (or not friends) with. I’ll chat with anyone who doesn’t spew rhetoric, talking points and hyperbole.
Dubya was and is a simple patsy. During “his” terms, I referred to it as “The Cheney / Rove White House” and not a single friend was either confused or annoyed. I gather that he’s a nice guy in person, and I hear Ellen is too. Now that he’s no longer a puppet for the folks that ran him during “his” terms, I’m happy to hear he has a “friend”. (What the heck is a “friend” when 10s (100s?) of thousands of people get to watch you interact with your “friend”?). More power to him, bless his heart.
As for this cartoon, I’m simply amused at Ramirez’s pseudo-naiveté.
Richard Pryor, during some of his longer periods of sobriety, liked to gently chide his diverse audiences, saying; “We all get along just fine in here. Why don’t we do that when we go out there?”
Each side should have to justify their positions and develop an understanding of the other point of view. In my opinion, the best way to do that is by talking.
My best friend and I have been close since kindergarden… He is a Glen Beck Republican and I am a Kennedy Democrat….We have stayed close for over 60 years…We just don’t talk politics…We don’t have to agree on all things to be life-long friends…My suggestion…try talking to someone you disagree with about things you both like or do agree on…
Actually a great slam at the hypocrites of The View. These people are very small people who can’t stand anyone who disagrees with them. Not sure why they are still on the air.

Even if they started a ear based on lies that resulted in the deaths of thousands. No big whoop.

Obviously, Ramirez was making a point about civility in the face of overheated politics, something the Left has trouble with.
