Lesson one: "THIS is what you get when you have a “precident” that DOES NOT BELIEVE IN AMERICAN DEMOCRACY, but thinks that he’s a DICTATOR who is above the law!"
I weep as well, thinking of all those who came before us to serve, fight and many of them died to defend the right of America to elect someone like Donald J. Trump as president
For a while I thought we were going the way of the late Roman Republic, but they had competent people. Instead, we seem to be going the way of the Weimar Republic – taken over by racist, authoritarian idiots being enabled by the rich and greedy.
It’s easy to get discouraged but all is not lost. Speak out, point out the inanities and things that are wrong with the U.S., talk with your elected representatives at all levels. The pendulum can swing both directions, it just does so slowly.
The teacher might explain…When Fascism came to America, it came wrapped in an American flag, carrying a cross, backed by Fox News, and it was named Donald J. Trump. Trump has turned the State Department [Pompeo] and the Justice Department [Barr] into his personal Gestapo to attack his political and personal enemies. Aided and abetted by Rudy Giuliani and the GOP house and senate. Tell the students that elections matter and as confusing as it can be to listen to all the candidates, they really need to listen and try to make a good judgment.
Trump is a cancer on America, but he was elected. Saying he wasn’t because he did not win the popular vote is just dumb. It also means that you are ignoring (as well as belittling) the people who did elect him.
Some people will remain hard-core trump. They are not all stupid, but they see him as delivering what he promised. That’s hard to beat, especially only by berating them. You must instead convince more and more people that your party has something better for the rest of the voters.
The impeachment will not bring him down (because at this point the Senate will never convict). The important thing is to use that against GOP Senate candidates.
Though our democracy seems to be in shambles, it, nevertheless, is still a work in progress. The teacher would explain to her students how it is supposed to work, so that they may get involved and maybe go on to vote and otherwise participate in government.
I think it can be said, without insincerity, that slavery tainted the notion of “American Democracy” from its inception. Perhaps only for a few brief years during Reconstruction might the nation claim it was genuinely democratic in governance.

It is based on the qualities of the electorate. Stupid greedy people will tend to elect con men.

I can’t imagine teachers having to explain Trump to their students. Especially those students being trained by parents trained by Trump.
