“Climate crisis?” As I understand it, the commonly used term “climate change” was selected by a Republican focus group and then promoted by the GOPigs as a much more acceptable and benign euphemism for “global warming.” The expression “global warming” itself greatly understates the problem, yea crisis, at hand. It’s more like “global sizzling, boiling, desertification.” The “fun” is only just beginning…
We’re all very different people. We’re not Watusi, we’re not Spartans, we’re Americans. With a capital “A”, huh?
And you know what that means? Do you? That means that our forefathers were kicked out of every decent country in the world. We are the wretched refuse. We’re the underdog. We’re mutts. ~ John Winger
Of all the capitols, in all the countries, in all the world, he walks into mine. What if you killed all of us? From every corner of America, thousands — millions — would rise up to take our places. Even Nazis can’t kill that fast. ~ from Casablanca
Denial of anthropogenic global warming at this point — when the signs are so obvious — is tantamount to willful suicide/genocide. There are no logical/ethical/moral excuses.
Only the “Chosen One” can save us! Some of us, anyway. A few of us, maybe. The “right ones” of us. Eventually. When he gets around to it. When he’s not too busy with the most important issues. Like Push Polls and Fake News. /s
Is it too much to ask for clean water, air and regulations to assure public health and safety; health care at reasonable prices; fair taxes for ALL; cheaper education; infrastructure renewal; cheaper education; less defense spending and more help for the working poor? And, oh yes, some effort to combat climate change? I know we progressive-moderates are a dangerous bunch and the conservatives need to protect themselves from us. /s
Been reading a novel set in early 21st century Australia. One of the characters is very concerned about the probability of 1 to 2 meters of sea rise over the next 30-50 years. I think/hope/wish that he’s overstating it, but in fact if you do the math on how much ice there is at the poles, it’s not just possible, it’s likely. Except for the timing which I’m not able to calculate.
