Amazing what total defeat in a war does to a society.

Blame the parents as every generation will do.

After two generations of Japanese commitment to non aggression, the US has been encouraging Japan to become more militaristic, reap what you sow.

This is more pointing out Japan has lost touch with it’s history. it is in denial about it’s past. "Pearl Harbor’ is taught in schools as just another battle. They leave out the sneak attack without a declaration of war, they justify the invasions of Manchuria and Indonesia as ‘we needed natural resources’ and sort of gloss over other people lived there. they still deny the whole ‘comfort wommen’ routine saying it wasnt a government plan but just ‘some companys’ were OTT

That’s what you get when you have a homogenous society a lot less friction in the population.

I believe only the Japanese have a word that means, “To try out your new sword on a passer-by”. Tsujigiri.

I won’t say it again: Its not about assigning guilt. It’s about making you aware of historical injustices that go back centuries and which you (and most of the time, ONLY YOU) have the means of redressing. All we’re asking is that you do something a little different from what previous generations did. Don’t ignore the problem. Don’t make it worse. FIX IT.

The sins of the parents. Japan still pretty much refuses to acknowledge WWII in school history books. Example. In Japan, no text book mentions “Korean Comfort Women and Korean Labor Battalions”. Thats just the way it is.Because of this-and Japanese failure to apologize to the few still alive “Comfort women” Korea and Japan are currently in the middle of a huge tiff. With Korea and Japan no in the middle of their own version of a “trade” war. Each country refuses to do business with the other. Even tho, Japanese buy Sam Sung phones, but Japan makes the chips for them. going on for more than 2 weeks now. Trump according to Korean News-Japanese news make no mention, tried to mediate, failed. Said Sec State going to fix everything-US markets now being affected. One thing both the Japanese and Korean (man-in-the -street) interviews(along with TV news programs in both countries) agree on is that Trump is a simple mended joke

Yeah, well war brings out the worst in all who are forced to fight them. Our collective ‘worst’ is pretty bad. Don’t mistake how we treat a puppy for how we treat wolves.
