Does it really matter with the GOP? A political party that shouts the loudest about following the Constitution, but regularly tramples on it and the Bill of Rights.
Sorta like the anti-gay “christian” preacher who’s on a trip with his boyfriend.
It is a shame that the self-proclaimed “strongest defenders” of the Constitution care not for nearly 250 years of tradition, analysis, interpretation, protocol and, perhaps most importantly, precedent.
The astounding* thing to me is that while looking right at the text people pick and choose what to see… though if you get them to read it out loud, they do usually actually say the words, but then add a parenthetical rubric that discounts the part they don’t see when they aren’t being verbal.
* Well, it would be astounding except I’ve caught myself skimming emails and thereby missing things that my spouse noticed right away.

Isn’t it like a menu, where you can pick the parts you like and ignore the rest?

You would think one reporter would ask him to quote the passage he’s referring to.

I’d love to see The Current Occupant’s Supreme Court picks explain Article II to him, along with “strict constructionist” Thomas.
