Maybe could be a poor African boy , or girl . (Honestly I don’t know if they live on the West or East cost) .

In those days, or perhaps before, Sally could go around the beach picking up empty pop bottles, turn them in for the deposit, and buy herself a brand new beach ball .. all with little effort. Turning in empty pop bottles was my chief source of pocket change as a kid, since I got no ‘allowance’.

Maybe the kid is having a ball with it, Sally. Let it go.

Like the kid could hear you, Sally!

How quick we are to judge.

Clearly Sally’s not familiar with the old, “Finders keepers…” rules.

The problem is not that people living in those countries are communists, it’s that their governments are communists. Let’s try to remember which system of government has massacred hundreds of millions of its own citizens over the years, OK??

If she’s in Alaska, it could ,very easily, be a Russian communist! ;o}

Good comic for reminding us of how ridiculous any generalized name calling is and how children repeat what they hear adults say. I don’t like to over think cartoons but some people are. Let’s just enjoy the joke and leave it at that.

Some people take these comics so literally.

Many toys and swim stuff come right back to the ocean beach where they were lost, particularly if there are underwater obstructions, essentially underwater dunes. When my dog and I visited my mom on the beach, I would figure out where the tide pushed toward the beach when the tide came back in, and I’d usually find that Frisbee or tennis ball that my golden failed to retrieve. Sadly, Sally’s huge beach ball is like a giant sail so the wind will take it out of the current so it will be in the shipping lanes before you know it.

Other side of the world, probably WAS a communist. He could send back half a ball for equal distribution.

Everyone knows this comic is syndicated from 1972 right? You’re all freaking out about politics in a strip that’s probably older than you. Lol!
