Since this cartoon makes the same point as Clay Jones’ (even though the actual way in which the two ’toons make that point are different and original), which seems appropriate considering the juxtaposition of bonespurs Trump with the heroism of Normandy, rather than reinvent the wheel I’ll repeat essentially the same comment I posted on Clay Jones:
Trump addresses riots by those carrying Nazi and KKKONfederate flags (literally the flags of armed conflict against the United States — the flags of treason, rebellion, slavery and oppression) and speaks of “both sides” of the “issue.”
If the “ISSUE” is the KKK, Nazis, white supremacists and confederates, then the “two sides” are: GOOD vs EVIL.
If the “ISSUE” is the Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong Un, and Mohammed bin Salman, then the “two sides” are: GOOD vs EVIL.
Not all Trump supporters are racists, Nazis, white supremacists or KKKonfederates.
Not all Trump supporters support Russia, North Korea or the Saudi theocratic sharia oppression.
But virtually all racists, Nazis, white supremacists and KKKonfederates are Trump supporters.
And to those that did not like that Trump mocked war heroes, gold star families, disabled people and spouted violence, but supported him anyway: the fact that those were not disqualifying makes them complicit in the collapse of American values Trump has wrought upon this nation.
President Deferment should not have been allowed to give a speech at today’s D-Day memorial. He’s a disgrace. The hero’s that fought and survived and those that gave their lives for freedom deserved better.
Actually, there were! The kid who tried to surrender and was shot in the opening scene was shouting “I’m Ukrainian!!” Conscription is an evil thing as many VietNam Vets will tell you. War is hell.
My uncle and father-in-law were there, and at the Battle of the Bulge. Both came home, and my uncle brought home a “war bride”. War is insanity, but yes there are real humans on both sides, bad, and good. It is the “leadership”, like Bonespurs and associates that suck.
None of my relatives were in the European theatre of WWII, though my father was on Corregidor when it fell. After surviving the Bataan Death March, he spent the rest of the war in a Japanese concentration camp.
I have been privileged to hear tales recounted, from both sides of the European conflict, and I can attest to the valor and the savagery shown on each side, in isolated instances. It all pales into insignificance compared to the savagery shown on both sides in the Pacific theatre, however.
Both sides were inculcated with the knowledge that the enemy was “subhuman” at best, non-human at worst in the case of the Pacific conflict.
Trump has NO CONCEPT of what he’s saying when he claims good people on both sides of the demonstration at Charlottesville and I just hope to God he wasn’t stupid enough to say such things at Normandy – that is not the way you address your nation’s enemies – even if they turned into your friends, afterwards.
Ironically, there were [some] good men fighting for Germany, they just had evil leaders. This lesson is forgotten when tribes go to war. Your “enemy” is a farmer, electrician, or car salesman. And he’s instructed to kill you.
He was on the wrong side of WWII, but I had a good man who was my German teacher in high school. He had been a pilot for the Luftwaffe. He immigrated after WWII when he realized that the US treated their POW’s much better than the Germans had.
Very very stupid. You should have waited until he screwed up the D-Day speech at Normandy.
Oops. Even some of his most vicious detractors praised it as his best speech ever. And it was. If you didn’t watch it, do so. He did America proud, praised our vets, our allies, our nation, our spirit.
Not the slightest hint or politics or partisanship.
Rather than promote Andylit’s comment up to the top of the stack by replying to it, just mosey on over to Steve Benson’s cartoon and see how Steve eviscerates him there.
Based on the lie that Trump said Nazis too were fine people. He said that both sides demonstrating (explicitly not the Nazis) had fine people. But why not continue the lie, Rogers… Might as well. With your mentality it’s either lie or draw Trump naked, hardi-har.
