Ah, the old swimming hole. We had a spot like that when I was young. Really just a deep wide spot in a stream and, wow, was it cold. Really nice on a hot summer day!
When I was growing up, I would look forward to staying with my grand parents for a couple of weeks each summer. That would mean visiting almost every day the swimming hole in the creek that ran through the middle of town. However, it was not a stagnant pond and had a sandy bottom.

I grew up playing in ponds, lakes, rivers and creeks but that purplish gray water is giving me the creeps.
