Actually, the charge is that he is showing contempt for Congress and its Constitutionally mandated role in government. So they are both saying the same thing, and the reciprocity implied by Ariail is a lie.
Yes, he can. “A vote to hold Barr in contempt of Congress is likely to succeed on the floor, since Democrats control the lower chamber. The case would then be sent to the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia or the Department of Justice to pursue criminal charges. But it is unlikely that a federal prosecutor would bring charges against their own boss, a former member of a House counsel office tells TIME.” Rather circular activity.
I suspect most Americans feel contempt over this whole charade. Where are all those Republican politicians that pulled out a copy of the constitution “in the time before trump”
I believe Ariail perceives himself to be a centrist so I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he is going for balance. Problem is, just as with CNN, when you present both sides of an argument as being equivalent just for form’s sake and ignore the factual context, you are granting legitimacy to falsehood.
It’s very disconcerting to have an AG who doesn’t seem to understand either the law or the constitution (presumably willfully). It’s disconcerting to find that Jeff Sessions was not in fact the functional nadir of an AG (always excepting Matthew Whitaker, who could be excused on the grounds that he had no qualifications at all to be AG).
The House Judiciary Committee voted to hold Attorney General William Barr in contempt of Congress and will now be taken up by the full House, where Democrats have a 38-seat majority.

And Barr’s contempt is irrelevant. Who cares what a republican hit man for criminal presidents thinks?

The contempt this entire corrupt administration has for the people it is supposed to represent is enough to make one vomit.

No one is above the law—even the Attorney General and the President. That’s what our ancestors fought for. No privileged king, thank you very much.

Republicans are destroying our check and balance system.

The difference is that Congress is entitled to hold him in contempt. The Attorney General is acting in defiance of the Constitution and law.

Barr has contempt for the Constitution and the rule of law.
It’s precisely why he was selected to be the new fixer for Trump.
