Broomie, it seems to be a good business opportunity among children.

I think I still have a few stuck in a drawer somewhere. Probably with my slide-rules.

My dad filled a squirt gun with ink and stuck it up through the ink well hole in his desk and shot his teacher while she wasn’t looking. She had no problem figuring out who did it though. It left a nice little line of ink right back to his desk. My dad wasn’t considered a model student.

I loved a fountain pen, but they could be quite messy.

Why would she need a pen to irritate people with when she has magic?

not that anyone cares, but I distinctly remember being introduced to the new cartridge pen system in the late 50’s.

what an advancement that was! instead of all the mess of an inkwell, all you had to do to fill up your fountain pen was

slip in full cartridge of ink…..they even had a choice of colors—-red, blue or black

I almost always use a fountain pen, for a number of reasons. Nobody will steal it, and it is VERY impressive. A good conversation starter.

A fountain pen was a prestigious item. Writing tools were rare. Now, if i see a ball point pen on the ground I just treat it as part of the garbage.

When I was in the second grade, we used pens that had a point like a fountain pen but the ink was stored in disposable cartridges We used the spent cartridges as ammo for “Torpedoes”. Incidentally, we were graded on penmanship. Then, later on came the ball point pen.

I once had a fountain pen when I was younger. It used ink cartridges that fit in the barrel of the pen. For some reason i thought they were useful to make my own ink blots.

Unless it sucks ink from a bottle, it’s not a real pen. Pistons, levers and convertors are the way to go. Cartridges are good for beginners.
