“Email existed before the web” – this is only some interesting message for people misunderstanding the word “Web” as meaning the same as the word Internet. It would be less surprising to hear the statement “On the internet, Email existed earlier than browsers and webpages”.
Yes, in the early 1980s there was email. But you had to route it yourself: identify the sequence of computers it had to go through to get to your destination. Seriously You kids with your domain names and fancy stuff: we had to push the bits uphill in the snow BOTH WAYS!
