Why would aliens want to take over Earth anyway? All the resources we have are in greater abundance in our own Solar System, we’re pains in the ass to deal with and we’re not very healthy eats (too fatty, salty and riddled with disease).
Like Einstein, I like to do thought experiments. I imagine myself as a boy scout from the planet Zarg working on his merit badge on primitive cultures.
When you look at our society from the outside, many of the “truths” that we hold to be self-evident, aren’t. We are a very arbitrary species. We invent all kinds of artificial divisions between ourselves that would seem trivial to an outsider.
For example, why does skin color matter while hair color or eye color do not? All three are just due to a random molecule stuck on some gene.
There is probably no greater divide than that caused by gender. Yes, some of it makes sense in terms of basic biology but the cultures are in some areas so diverse, that our boy scout (or whatever gender-on-Zarg scout) could easily make the mistake that we are separate species.
I often question, “Why is it like this?” and “How else could it be?” It keeps life from getting boring.
Don’t think outside the box; think outside the planet.

Good idea. They’ll almost certainly wipe themselves out by then, and you can move in, scrape off the slums and garbage dumps and fix the place up.

Saved from conquest by a couple of double barrels
One of my favorite Hermans has one alien telling another one that they don’t stop here much because we’re all nuts.
(Herman aliens are the best.)

A wise choice. I would if I could.
