Tucker Carlson is having a meltdown that rivals what Trump would look like if he ever agreed to an 11-hour grilling UNDER OATH without ever taking the Fifth or invoking executive privilege.
First he tries to interview the brilliant European scholar Rutger Bregman, author of the insightful Utopia for Realists on how to achieve broad-based middle class prosperity with a modernized version of Keynesian economics. Then that goes so badly for Carlson he decides not to air the segment. But then it turns out that Bregman had recorded it himself and released the audio.
Now we are getting old recordings of Carlson from his old appearances on a radio show “Bubba the Love Sponge” (really!) where he makes repeated, numerous racist and sexist remarks and now advertisers are fleeing.
Shades of Bill O’Reilly (whose time slot he took over).
It requires Fox News for Tucker Carlson to survive this famous Crossfire encounter:
“Stop, stop, stop, stop hurting America,” Stewart said. “You’re doing theater, when you should be doing debate, which would be great. What you do is not honest. What you do is partisan hackery.”Carlson and Begala appeared taken aback by Stewart’s earnest criticism and his failure to quip and banter.“Wait. I thought you were going to be funny,” the bow-tie wearing Carlson said on the show. “Come on. Be funny.”“No. No. I’m not going to be your monkey,” Stewart answered. The increasing tension between the three men was punctuated at the end of the program when Carlson said, “I do think you’re more fun on your show. Just my opinion.”“You know what’s interesting, though?” Stewart answered. “You’re as big [an expletive] on your show as you are on any show.”
If you haven’t seen it in awhile search for “Jon Stewart Tucker Carlson Crossfire” it’ll pop right up. And Stewart was right he Tuck is still s big [an expletive] as he was then.
Fox is the self-appointed cheerleader for the anti-democracy, anti-republic anti-Constitutional ideologies that the Republican party has adopted in a vain attempt to recover from the loss of integrity and leadership the Nixon administration gave them. The post-Nixon Republicans, finding themselves unable to govern for the entire electorate, has singled out the individuals with negative feelings, but no workable solutions, and is obstructing their opponents whenever they attempt to do something proactive for all of society. It would be an entirely different matter if Carlson had practical, workable positive solutions to problems, and was just prodding people into action, but sadly all that he has is negativity. Just as the Republicans in control of all branches of government cannot efficiently and effectively solve gun control, immigration or healthcare and refuse to deal with climate change realistically — thoughts and prayers won’t work there either — so too, Fox and Carlson have no helpful answers.
He’s a class act. Actually, most of the employees are classy. “There are important stories that don’t make anyone angry, prove liberals are evil or otherwise carry an emotional punch. Fox viewers get less of them. Fox News is like an all-you-can-eat buffet, serving up red meat. A more balanced diet might be healthier in the long run.”https://www.forbes.com/sites/quora/2016/07/21/a-rigorous-scientific-look-into-the-fox-news-effect/#5545433d12ab
It is possible for Tucker Carlson to get beyond his previously spoken comments – but first, he must renounce them – fortunately for the security of his position, Fox will NOT REQUIRE repentance nor will they require contrition – because his previous words reflect what ALL OF FOX NEWS truly stands for.
And they are fine with an all powerful despot of a deity can give and take their rights unlike humans. Strange that they have that intellectual disconnect.
I’m not a big fan of deep diving for old sins, then acting like this stuff is brand new. But given Carlson’s meatheaded “Come at me, bro” response to the whole thing, zero sympathy. Let the chips (and advertisers) fall where they may.

Well, that’s it, then, guys. Time to knock off! Politically driven comments have no place in a comment section for political cartoons.
