CONservatives have spent decades demonizing the Clintons with phony, Trumped-up scandals, Swift Boat lies about John Kerry, birther CONspiracy lies about Obama including massive racist assaults and much more.
The breakdown in civility is one sided. There is nothing comparable on the other side.
Negative lies about Democrats were dishonest lies with zero basis in fact.
Negative FACTS about Trump are based on a massive litany of actual FACTS about his criminal conspiracy with Russians and voter suppression to steal an election, money laundering, emoluments, nepotism and much more.
People accept from Trump, an alleged adult, conduct that they would not condone in their own children.
Rude people come from rude parents. It’ called leadership by example. Children often won’t do what you tell them; but they will mimic your actions and do what you do.
Starting mostly with Newt Gingrich, the Republicans kidnapped Civility, stuffed in a car trunk and drove it into the river a looooooong time ago. That isn’t even a partisan statement, simply being old enough to remember a little history.
Civility has been in decline for some time.. but really went downhill when politicians realized that outrageous outbursts get TV time.. And nothing… is more important to a politician than a TV camera
