Not all who serve are under fire, but all that serve could be.

I’m sure that, even stoned, the guy in the motor pool did a whale of a lot more work and got his hands a lot dirtier than Zonker ever did in his 12 years of undergraduate!

My late husband dropped out of college for ONE QUARTER in 1967 to make some money and got called in for a physical. He wasn’t even allowed to go home and pack a toothbrush or say goodbye to his parents. They put him on a bus and hauled him off to bootcamp. He wound up on a LRRP team and was eventually wounded while on patrol. Vietnam finally claimed him last year when he died from lung cancer caused by exposure to agent orange. And now look at the mess we have because of Afghanistan. When are We the People going to stop allowing our government to do this sh*t?

The only political argument my Dad and I ever had was that I wasn’t happily willing to march off to Nam and die for my country’s follies. I had a student deferment and a high draft number. (I graduated HS in 69) 50 years later I still have my draft card. On a lighter note, I told everyone I was 4-X. In the event of hostilities, I was to be used as a hostage.

Tax the rich. Demand congressional approval for overseas military action. Take down the military industrial complex, which creates wars, conflicts, and imaginary threats so as to create a need for military equipment that keeps the rich richer.

Vote for Tulsi Gabbard, the most anti-war Democratic candidate for POTUS 2020.

Ah, yes, the good ol’ days when anxious parents bribed the “right” officials to keep their child out of something. Today, it’s all topsy-turvy, when parents are now, again, bribing the “right” officials, but this time to get their child into something.
