    The book What If? by xkcd author Randall Munroe examined the question of what would happen if a drain opened up at the bottom of the Marianas Trench. A lot of water would disappear, but there’d still be good-sized bodies of it in local depressions that didn’t have a direct downhill path to the drain. He included a map based on water-depth contour lines.

    This might have been better if it was an anchor chain they were pulling, and it turned out to be attached to a drain plug, not a “plumber’s friend”.
