it might be that Janis put the TV (movie) on hold to run a very short errand, bathroom break etc. and Arlo seeing the opportunity, made himself a snack, and forgot to keep an eye out for the return of Janis…maybe….?
I originally found this strip annoying because about once a week I didn’t get it and had to come here for an explanation. Now I’ve come to love being stumped, knowing there’s a subtle clue there somewhere. I didn’t get this one until I noticed the progress bar on the video. They paused half way through while he grabbed a quick snack, only he forgot to come back.
