Another cannonade was audible at some distance. At the same time that the two were furiously attacking, two other cannons, trained one from the Golden Gate, the other from the River Charles, were riddling the Potomac barricade. The four cannons echoed each other mournfully.
The voices of these sombre scions of democracy replied to each other.
The object of this mode of firing was to drive the insurgents…, and to compel them to gather close in the interior – Hugo
At least in southern and western VA. I was traveling through Va Obama’s election night. The folks gathered in the pizza place for dinner were watching (guess) FOX. To say that there were no black people there is an understatement – the hatred was palpable. Now the farmers have been betrayed by trump and the GOP – wonder if it’s sunk in.
I have rapidly grown weary of national news coverage on this topic, which is entirely a matter between the citizens of Virginia and their beleaguered governor.
The Governor was stupid decades ago, and has done a lot to make up for it. McConnell and Bonespurs are still at it, and their supporters find no problem.

And another person ruined for all time by a possible youthful indiscretion many years ago. Why anyone ever goes into politics is a mystery.

Have you heard that Budweiser advertised during the Super Bowl about powering their operations with wind? Wind-powered beer! There goes Joe Sixpack.
