I’m told that there is a growing problem with global warming. If so, why do we let the politicians of every party on the planet make so much useless hot air? If we could get them to just be silent for a week, it might cool the place a bit.
Admittedly, the news-types would probably make up for the missing hot air, blathering about the silence. Since their source of useless blather would have been quite for a week. Still its all useless hot air that does not do any work. Just heat up the place, that’s all.
Politicians use big words to make themselves seem smarter than the average person…and realizing the average person would make up their own meaning to the words according to their personal prejudices. Brilliant even if shifty.
Reminds me of a time I had met with several members of senior management in my company. While discussing a particular matter, I stated that “the onus will be on the individual to ensure they complete this certification.” Ever since then that’s all I heard come out of virtually every senior manager’s mouth, “Onus (this), onus (that)”.

He should have responded with “Hey, I don’t write this stuff.” “I just read it”!

It means “Time to get down off the hummer, Timmy, playtime is over.” Cue Timmy throwing a fit until someone bodily drags him off.

I’m amused at the “alternating” name display on the front of the podium (“Sen. Batson” / “D. Belfry”).
