When it comes to library books, I tried to get into “The Brothers Karamazov.” I’m not that fast of a reader and I couldn’t even get past the first section when it was return time.

Some book-to-film adaptations rarely stay faithful.

Story of my life. I’ve always wanted to be a bookworm, and this always impedes me. It’s depressing. :P

Many of my favourite movies are better than the original book: Conneticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court, No Highway in the Sky, plus all the Disney animations of old fairy tales.

If you make it a task rather than a pleasure, then you’re less likely to finish it. Unfortunately, if you’ve reached adulthood without acquiring a reading habit, it may already be too late.

Jon’s not giving it much of a try, though.

Maybe we can get a condensed version of GoComics and only show the last panel?

Stay away from Jon Steinbeck, Jon. I had to read his books in high school, and I hated them because Steinbeck had a bad habit of spending so much time describing the minutiae of the scenery that he’d forget to advance the plot — and Melville suffered from the same affliction!

Garfield’s comment in the last panel is so true of today’s TV “new” series, or whatever. A good part of whatever program is seen through those “trailers” no need to watch the program !

You are seeing the whole content, of the book they used, in the trailer. Especially books I have read. No more movie adaptations for me.

I’ve been trying to read more lately. (Books, that is, rather than the usual magazines/junk.) Leafing through a good story is always great. I think we should all do so more often.

The problem is that American movies tend to half-ass character development just to save time. Besides Hollywood doesn’t really use movies to tell dynamic stories anymore like they used to, they just use it to draw in big bucks from China with all these CGI blockbusters like Transformers, Marvel’s Avengers, Jurassic World and Fast & Furious. They spend $200 million to produce, another $300 million to advertise to get $1 billion back at the box office.

I’m doing a drawing every day for this month. I’m using the great app Tayasui Sketches. I highly recommend it for drawing on a tablet.
