Yes, Ms. Nielsen is quite a piece of work. That this is happening in our country in 2018, after our parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles fought and died to stop this kind of behavior in WWII is unforgivable. Have we learned nothing or are we so wrapped up in hatred that it is happening again.
The land of the free and the home of the brave is becoming the land of the people in fear of others freedoms as it might take money and privilege away from the fearful.
Still, no parent should bring a child on such a hazardous journey. Why bring a young child when most of the family is staying back anyway – unless you are using him or her as a ploy or shield against being refused your illegal entry? I don’t agree with Trump in the least, but as a parent, I condemn the parents for using a child like this.
Of course you WERE supposed to leave your kid behind to be used by the rape squads in the war-torn parts of your country before being shot and left for the animals to tear apart and eat, or to be recruited into becoming addicted drug mules and prostitutes for the drug cartel leaders, so THEY get rich while your kids get DEAD!!
Let’s be perfectly clear – it is never a parent’s “fault” for striving and taking a risk to give their children a hope of a better life…Can you even begin to imagine the risks inherent in the lives they were struggling to leave behind???
No, it is our fault for not guaranteeing them a chance at the ‘American Dream’ – what was once the light of many in this world, in desperate straits…Or at the very least, if there really was “no room at the inn”, to find a decent and humane way to turn them away, as any decent and humane administration and society would and should have done.
It’s the parents’ fault that US industry chose their country for quick profits.
It’s their fault those industries kicked out the good leaders to install stooges.
It’s their fault our messed-up drug laws made most of the world into “Prohibition 2.0,” transforming many third-world countries into gangster hells.
It’s the parents’ fault that Trump is rewriting laws and policies on the fly, and lying about the reasons.
Glad I’m not those parents! I’m not sure I could handle all the blame for things that happened over the course of decades and which were decided by actions thousands of miles away by people I’d never see.
There are massive numbers of refugees around the world. WE are supposed to be the best at human rights and dignity, but so many other countries leave us in the dust on that. Ending the need for refugees is supposed to be what we’re about, instead, we’re creating them in the Middle East and elsewhere with our policies aimed at profit, not peace.
@MICHELLEHARRIT, “When you have nothing, You have nothing to lose” Sadly, Those poor refugees didn’t know that old saying and many have lost their lives pursuing an evasive dream , Such a high price to pay for a dream, Makes me so sad, (And please don’t start with the “You should adopt them all”) However small, My efforts to help those that I encounter almost day after day will never solve a problem created by Geopolitics, But we are getting out of the main issue here, Don’t become a hater for hate will corrode your soul to the point of no return, Just do good, and keep it to yourself, If nothing else don’t demonize those with less hopes and less options than what you have, Have a wonderful New Year y’all! (I think that I’ll go to my sanctum and do a little crying to wash my eyes clean, for the pain is to great)

Sad part is that it IS the parent’s fault. No one else.
