So in conclusion, Schroeder and Lucy could’ve both saved themselves almost 50 years of grief (not the good kind) if Mrs. Van Pelt had bought her daughter a children’s dictionary.

Not only Schroeder called you sweet, Lucy, he also brought you flowers.

So that’s where her infatuation started! With a misunderstanding… Poor Schroeder!

More than one piano player played that trick on me, Lucy. Never felt closer.

Following a class when we were talking about the importance of punctuation, one of my students came up and said she had seen the following sign on her former English professor’s door:

    Let’s go eat grandma

    Let’s go eat, grandma

    Punctuation saves lives.

Lucy should get herself a style guide tout sweet!

I have a Christmas ornament with this scene on it, and children’s voices saying the story. Yep, the start of Lucy’s infatuation.

Too bad Lucy can’t see the speech bubbles; she can only hear the words!

It’s in the punctuation, Lucy. ‘The Nutcracker Suite’ as against ‘The Nutcracker, Sweet’.
