It’s a metaphor. Islam is treated with kid gloves in our society, even while its practitioners (e.g. in Saudi Arabia) suppress women and gays. Two standards. Worth exposing and discussing.
I doubt Mr. Lester is advocating that people convert to Islam in order to travel with less restrictions, so that only leaves a veiled reference supporting the racist and bigoted conservative point of view that accommodating people of a different religion from theirs weakens their already fragile hold on their own belief system.
I travel on a regular basis, both domestic and international. What Mr.Lester depicts here just does not happen. Mr.Lester appears to be channeling Alex Jones on his most nasty day.
This is utter garbage. I’ve had friends who wore hijab get body searched. Probably because they wore it. If a woman employee does it privately, there isn’t an issue.
Interesting article about whether Islam is a race or not. Remember Nazis use the term “Jewish Race”. Technically we are all of one race. Race here refers to cultural identity. The cartoon is hateful just the same.
Is this in reference to a specific “news” item? A quick search turned up something in Canada but that would be outside the TSA’s reach. I see women in Burqa’s can request a private area once asked to remove their covering but that isn’t unique to them.
I live in North Texas. There is a protestant sect in this area, at least, which requires that all women wear ankle length dresses. I assume there are still nuns who wear enveloping costumes, also. Why do right wingers single out Muslims as potentially dangerous for their religious dress?
For people asking if this is in reference to a specific news item, this recently happened to Daisy Fuentes. https://clashdaily.com/2018/12/daisy-fuentes-blasts-the-tsa-for-making-her-disrobe-while-giving-a-chick-in-a-burka-a-pass/
Oh Sure we are going to get an Honest and even handed report from BARE_NAKED_ISLAM.Only God knows what kind of Right Wing Span i am going to get delivered into my computer from that site.
Well, what it pretty clearly shows is Mike’s reliance on fake news sites. Either that or he’s gone completely around the bend into right wing hate sites.
Love the hat. And the equally far from truth idea that wearing a burqa somehow gets you past the screening without being screened. The only things about this that aren’t funny are that some people actually believe this crap; and that the TSA is such a part of life now that we take for granted the pat downs, xrays, stupid liquid and blade size restrictions and all the rest.
Hey, SFGator, if you were paying attention to the article and didn’t notice the “barenakedislam” stuff, how did you miss the fact that the headline was a lie and the article said exactly nothing about women in burqas evading scrutiny. A dead giveaway that you were reading and reposting FAKE NEWS.
This isn’t true. People in any religious garb are held to the same standards. This is a LIE. Also new technology allows people to remove less clothes. https://www.tsa.gov/blog/2010/11/18/tsa-myth-or-fact-leaked-images-handcuffed-hosts-religious-garb-and-more?page=7

Hmmm. . .racism, or religious bigotry or both? A “win-win” for the deplorables!

I think someone needs to re-check Lester’s meds. His game has been further off than usual lately.

Racist, demeaning women and a religion, just proves conservatives have no sense of humor.

This is bullsh#t. Everyone gets screened the same way.

The nice thing about being as pessimistic as Lester is … is that when things go wrong they’re actually better than you thought they were.

Did I miss something? Sometimes I wish cartoons would have footnotes to explain their references. Or else maybe there isn’t a reference?

Hit it on the nose again. This should get the little liberal dweebs in an uproar. Thanks Mr. Lester.
