It didn’t end well for HAL, computer. You might want to remember what his ultimate fate was!

That’s quite … un-ignorant of you, Roger, to recall some ‘historic filmography.’ Love the reference though. @ LeeCox: maybe the PC was fearing Roger’s wrath about now?

Interesting, because all of the things Roger accuses the computer of doing is what people use computers to do.

In one of the places I worked, the office next to me was occupied by two men: Harold and David. One day, David got locked out. You guessed it. he said, “Hal, let me in.” to which the response was, “I’m sorry, Dave, I can’t do that.” done in a very good representation of the computer’s voice.

The best jobs I’ve had were with crazy people.

Great, now I want to know the link between “Gentle Ben” and Kevin Bacon.

Hang on. Does “Gentle Ben” refer to the bear, or to the series? Never mind, that doesn’t matter. The series also starred the younger brother of Ron Howard, Clint Howard, who was in the movie Gentle Giant that started the whole “Gentle Ben” series, and who was in Apollo 13 with Kevin Bacon. So it’s “Gentle Ben” to Clint Howard to Kevin Bacon.

Come to think of it, Ron Howard’s father Rance Howard would also work. He was also in the “Gentle Ben” series and in Apollo 13.

Well, that took half an hour. Now to get some work done!

Let me point out that Hal began singing “Daisy” when Dave was removing the components that controlled his higher brain functions. So maybe at this point Roger is getting the upper hand.

These are old, right? Judging by the computer, at least 20 years old, I guess. So was Amend psychic about the popularity of all the in-house personal assistants today?
