Butter & sugar is an excellent substitute…or jam…and I agree with others that the analogy is not the greatest. Riding a horse bareback is pure, a real one on one experience.
Lacking syrup, I used to put butter on my pancakes. But, cutting back on saturated fat, I stopped using butter. Also, syrup is too much sugar. So, now I use vegetable oil on my pancakes.

That is a nightmare! I learned a long time ago to check and make sure I have syrup before I make pancakes or French toast.

Riding bareback is like walking the beach without shoes. You really become one with the horse. Not a good comparison to no syrup on pancakes.

I think Raymond Babbit would agree about not having syrup with his pancakes. Definitely need to have maple syrup on the table with pancakes.
