Good grief Adam, haven’t you got a freezer? A chest freezer I guess they’re called? You divvy up a lot of the left over turkey into meal portions and freeze it. Take some out now and then and make stuff with it, but you don’t keep it up til the whole turkey is gone.
Still remember the year when turkeys were really inexpensive. Mom made turkey for Thanksgiving and then kept making them until the end of February. I couldn’t look at turkey for years after that.
Two people. 14 lb turkey (One year 16 lb). Much leftovers. We eat turkey about every other night for a week. Then he says he has had enough and I should freeze the rest and “we will do something with it later” Next October I throw out about half of last year’s turkey and suggest Thanksgiving dinner at the Asian buffet (Ikea’s cafe, the other place we can afford to eat out other than Wendys is closed.) They do have a turkey instead of the beef roast on Thanksgiving at the buffet.
Normally we eat leftovers on Friday night – the next night. This year it was to be bad weather on Saturday night when we go to Ikea for dinner and then go to a movie, so he decided that we would go to Asian buffet Friday night and have leftovers Saturday night. Wish we hadn’t. Somehow I dislodged my single bottom tooth “flipper” (fake tooth) which sits in the front of my mouth while eating a dumpling, which had a hard edge. I did not realize it until later in the meal that I had swallowed the tooth piece. Much fun over the weekend waiting to get it back. Luckily I finally did. Now it has to be sanitized. No more dumplings for me.
