Trump Disciples would replace Lincoln’s statue with one of Trump.

    The Trump Memorial.

    You know, Branding.

Since McConnell, Ryan and the entire Republican leadership without question serve Trump, and Trump serves Putin, the party of Lincoln is now effectively the party of Putin. Replace Lincoln with a giant statue of a shirtless Putin smiling benevolently down on America.

Would " clean up in aisle four" be to polite of a way to ask that those two piles be removed?

    Indeed. Look at the facts:

    - Lincoln favored a strong Union, denying “states’ rights.” (Inaugural Address 1861: “I hold, that in contemplation of universal law, and of the Constitution, the Union of these States is perpetual. …Plainly, the central idea of secession, is the essence of anarchy.”) Now the GOP supports states’ rights, even making noises about secession.

    - Lincoln supported labor over big business, despite being a lawyer who worked with big business (railroads): “Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration.” Downright Marxist! Now the Republicans are the party of big business, and the rich, actively demonizing and destroying unions.

    - While Lincoln started as racist (though ALWAYS anti-slavery) as many whites, he learned better and advocated strongly for equality, thanks to his recognizing the effectiveness of black troops and the genius of Frederick Douglass: “The restoration of the Rebel States to the Union must rest upon the principle of civil and political equality of both races…” (January 1864, Letter to James S. Wadsworth) Since Nixon launched the “Southern Strategy,” the GOP has been using and outright supporting racism; look at the Attorney General who undercuts EFFECTIVE anti-racism efforts in police enforcement, let alone #45.

    - Lincoln believed in using government to support all citizens, to help them find a better life: “On the side of the Union, it is a struggle for maintaining in the world, that form, and substance of government, whose leading object is, to elevate the condition of men — to lift artificial weights from all shoulders — to clear the paths of laudable pursuit for all — to afford all, an unfettered start, and a fair chance, in the race of life.” (July 4, 1861 Message to Congress) Today, we have Reagan’s condemnation of government.

The GOP has dead-ended in Trump, the alt-right, and white boys with lawn torches as make believe storm troopers.
