This is a sex crimes prosecutor that was hired in Maricopa County, Arizona (Phoenix and vicinity) to clean up the disastrous Arpaio mess. She has had a good record in confronting abusers and defending women. She is also a Republican.
We will now see if she is an Arizona McCain hero of integrity and putting principle above party, or if she succumbs to the pressure of the McConnell/Grassley/Trump rape culture of corruption.
With this setup, I can’t escape the sense that the feckless RapeUglican bullies have run away to hide behind their mother’s skirt after a “girl” has threatened to one-up and humiliate them. Poor babies…
They’ll hire a female prosecutor to “plow right through” the hearings, but they won’t let the FBI investigate the allegations. What are they more afraid of, that the accusations are shown to be true or the coming elections preventing them from getting another shot at confirming such an odious right wing corporate stooge?
“Questioning will be done by a female assistant.” – Mitch McConnell
Nope. No matter how many times I hear it, it still seems that it’s insulting to such an accomplished prosecutor…sounds like:
“Oh, we’ll have a girl come in and clean up this mess.”
Ladies from Kentucky: Do remember the respect he has shown women when Mitch McConnell is up for reelection. Send him home with his tail between his legs.
George, in the Ellison case, he has asked the House to investigate the allegations against him, unlike the GOP for Kavanaugh. While there are some who may claim he is guilty without an investigation, there are plenty of us who would like to find out what may be the truth. Yes, he is innocent until proven guilty, but if he is innocent, there shouldn’t be any problem having an investigation, there would be nothing found. A slight delay in his confirmation maybe, but the truth would be known to the public who has to abide by the decisions he would help craft for life if he is confirmed.
Paraphrasing a well remembered quote. ‘The brain is a tool of survival, like fang or claw’, Republican pack mentality is an excellent manifestation of pack mentality of the predatory. It is ironic that their anti abortion trump card is so strongly associated with sexual predators of the fraternity boy culture whose casual and consequence free in group sex games conduce to pregnancies in girls deliberately cut from the herd because they were “alone” or “shy”. The outrage at being called out on indicts their logic and integrity. Ugh.
Old white male sexist Republicans apparently have no idea of the pent up public anger at their total unfairness that is going to be released upon them in the November election.
The tactics that the Trump Republicans are using are significant.
They don’t care about precedent. They are refusing to have the FBI investigate the claims of Kavanaugh’s accusers.
Having shut out Merrick Garland from the court, they don’t care they are ramming their nominee through the Senate despite evidence of his lying under oath, and lying during interviews. They are smearing his accusers and discrediting their statements.
They don’t care that they are further alienating voters who believe in fair play and following precedent.
They don’t care about further alienating women voters.
They don’t care about further alienating people who dislike Kavanaugh’s extreme views on presidential and corporate power.
They don’t care that getting Kavanaugh on the court looks like handing the Oligarchs even more of the reins of power.
The prize they are after is so attractive to them, that they are willing to sacrifice what is left of their party reputation, not to mention adding to their problems in upcoming elections.
The analyses that Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine have to go thru in determining where their loyalties lie with respect to Brett Kavanaugh:
I’m an American.
I have actually read the Constitution.
I represent my state.
I’m a senator, a member of the Legislative Branch; part of my job is checking and balancing the other 2 branches.

None of the men wanted to see their “questioning” video clips showing up in campaign ads and that’s the ONLY reason a woman was brought in.
