It really is touching how Trump Disciples are screaming about presumption of innocence.

If only their concern extended to unarmed black men who are shot by police. You know, the reason for the kneeling protests, not the LIE that Trump tells and His Disciples believe.

    .

And, as far as I know, no one (at least very few) have claimed that BK is guilty of attempted rape, only that it needs to be thoroughly investigated — along with the thousands of pages of his writings that Republicans are suppressing and the allegations of his perjury.

    .

Just one more issue for Trump and His Disciples to LIE about.

    .

Yes, anyone who is accused of sexual assault should be presumed innocent, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be investigated. The repubs are attempting to avoid due process here.

This is not a trial for “presumption of innocence “ to be considered. This a selection process for a lifetime spot in the highest court in the land. We deserve the best candidate, not one with insufficient evidence against. The questions around him need to be resolved before the senate votes to nominate. There is no reason why the process needs to be completed in a weeks time. Let it take a year, if need be. Let the candidate be fully cleared of all issues before the vote. The image of the Supreme Court was tarnished after the Clarence Thomas nomination. Let’s not trash it further.

Exactly one month ago, Mr Ramirez was uninterested in applying the the presumption of innocence to a purported “illegal immigrant.” If it means anything, it should be applied to everyone,

In what way is an all-Republican Congress a guarantee of proper checks and balances in appointing a justice for we the people when Republicans represents only 28% of registered voters? Are we no longer a republic?

Um, Mr Ramirez, we aren’t talking about a trial at law. Individuals are perfectly free to draw whatever conclusions the known facts and reasonable likelihoods point to. For example, the blunt refusal of the Publicans to release more than a tiny fraction of Kavanaugh’s professional writings is damning per se, much like the “president’s” refusal to release his tax returns. And it’s unlikely in the extreme that obsession with the Foster suicide is Kavanaugh’s only loose screw.

Republicans care nothing for the Constitution and rule of law.

Their only concern is for power and control over the proletariat and the nation.

You see how Republicans hate and bust unions, and take away the rights of working men.

You have seen McConnell suddenly rewrite the rules to favor Republicans.

You see how they defend their sexist frat boy candidate and attack the woman who was molested.

Did you see Kavanaugh’s club flag made of women’s underwear?

Even the creepy sexist Republican president tweeted against Ford, talk about prejudice.

The Republican normal is over the top crazy.

Once again, RWNJs fail to recognize that “Leftists” = “Liberals” = Those who started, fought, and won the American War of Independence and founded this Nation!

[ Cultural illiteracy has found a secure home in the minds of RWNJs. ]

I think it should be noted that “presumption of innocence” applies only to a defendant formally accused of a crime. By “formally,” I mean charged, indicted, and either on or preparing for trial. The “presumption of innocence” is charged to the jury before their deliberations, reminding them that the burden of proof is on the prosecution to prove its case “beyond reasonable doubt.” In the Kavanaugh case, there have been no formal charges, so the presumption of innocence simply does not apply. He is under suspicion, to be sure. There should be an investigation, to be sure. But it’s a misuse of the “presumption of innocence” to say that the presumption alone is enough to allow him to be elevated to the highest court in the land.

How many times has Ramirez crucified Clinton or Obama here in his cartoon space which is another court of public opinion for faux scandals? F*ing hypocrite.

If Republicans truly cared about the rule of law they would stand aside and let the FBI investigate but the truth is they only use the law when it is to their benefit.

The Republicans didn’t release any documentation until very late the night before the hearing. Then they held back EVERYTHING from when Kavanaugh worked for Bush 43 -a time period that Kavanaugh referred to as being the most influential on him as a judge. It is also the time period he lied about under oath in 2006 by claiming he had no involvement in discussions of detainees when he did.

The sexual assault accusation needs to be investigated; sweeping it under the rug and rushing the nomination is an assault on justice.

No investigation will result in anything more than delay. If there are other “victims” they will come forward. If there aren’t, what will “investigation” do? Even if he did it, so what. That was a lifetime ago, & not repeated. Wait a few days to see if there’s anything else, & if not, confirm.

if one begins with a presumption of innocence, then Judge Kavanaugh won’t be in any trouble. Since the whole purpose of this farce is to keep Kavanaugh off the supreme Court and hopefully ruin his life, the concept of justice must be kept out of this.

A reminder … Conservatives, preferring the status quo, do not start revolutions….

On another note, does anyone find it somewhat puzzling that Kavanaugh’s “defenders” could produce a letter, listing 65 women who “weren’t molested” by Kavanaugh, so quickly?

@RAGNAR — Should ‘Separation of Powers’ be a consideration in what you call “this farce?” ( Especially since Kavanaugh apparently believes that the President has unlimited powers…. )

Isn’t that why they are having a hearing? To get the facts? Though “Shilly” Ramirez is so in the tank for the GOP, he is much more concerned about scoring propaganda points and advancing their agenda.
