Come on, they are just appendages, not independent entities. Like our hair and skin falling off. (Pedantic off.)

However beautifully done, Justin. I am always happy to see it.

No, Night-Gaunt… flowers are not appendages…. and neither are hairs.

Human appendages are projecting body parts, like arms, fingers and toes. Appendages don’t fall off… one hopes.

Hair is part of an external layer…. not an appendage… it’s designed to slough or be broken off… like skin, and fingernails.

The human equivalents of flowers are mostly internal organs, plus one appendage.

Except that in plants, they’re external, multiple, and expendable…

cos flowers contain reproductive parts… they’re ovaries… the female part…

and stamens, the male “appendage” in a human… (some plants have separate male and female flowers) …plus petals and some other stuff.

And that little flower is wrong… that isn’t all there is!

Some flowers don’t fall off…. not in that way…. only if they don’t get fertilised.

if the ovaries get fertilised by pollen from the male parts… most will stay attached, swell, and develop into layers that can include fruit, seeds…. shells, skin…

there are too many kinds to generalise…

some of what we call “vegetables” are botanically (but not in culinary terms) fruit in that sense, like peas, peppers… anything with seeds.

Seeds make the next tree or plant.

In most plants, flowers aren’t just temporary decorations….

they’re important… they create the next generation.

    Be proud, little flower.

It isn’t so much “the dark” that the falling flower is afraid of as it is the unknown!

That Flower didn’t think the Fruit she was leaving behind was a worthwhile accomplishment?

Gotta cut Bud some slack. Bud is so young as these things go! (No pun intended, probably.)

Beautiful is its own justification. Or should I Justinfication?
