Brett Kavanaugh is already a proven liar. After repeatedly perjuring himself in his 2006 confirmation hearings (resulting in a referral by the Judiciary Committee to the Justice Department, which was ignored by Kavanaugh’s buddies at Bush “Justice” Department) and again in his current hearings, he is now accused by a very credible witness of attempted rape. (Dr Christine Blasey Ford, who tried to remain confidential until it became impossible, has taken AND PASSED a polygraph test. Not holding my breath for proven liar Kavanaugh to do the same.)
Instead of just admitting he was young, drunk and highly remorseful and has changed, Kavanaugh lies and denies. The friend who was there with him, Mark Judge, now a conservative commentator, also denies anything like that happened.
Yet in Mark Judge’s own book on recovery from alcoholism, he describes how, in his younger years, he and a close friend were drinking heavily, often to blackout. He notes that the two of them were part of a high school “club” that consumed 100 kegs of beer their senior year.
As reported in the Los Angeles Times: In his senior-class yearbook entry at Georgetown Prep, Kavanaugh made several references to drinking, claiming membership to the ‘Beach Week Ralph Club’ and ‘Keg City Club.’ He and Judge are pictured together at the beach in a photo in the yearbook. (Link below)
To protect privacy, he used pseudonyms for the school and the individuals referred to.
The “pseudonym” Judge gave to “protect” the identity of his BLACKOUT drinking buddy?
“Bart O’Kavanaugh.”
At charitable best, he could say he was blacked out and doesn’t remember.
I have to wonder….. If the roles were reversed and a woman was accusing an Obama SCotUS nominee of attempted rape, would the Republicans take her side against the nominee, or would they give in to their natural inclinations and drag her name through the mud anyway? I guess it’s a moot point anyone seeing as how they refused to even hold hearings on Obama’s nominee or allow a confirmation vote.
She is indeed in the shadow of the Anita Hill hearing, which was also a sham. Dr. Ford is trying to avoid having the same fiasco take place, by insisting on a thorough investigation before the hearing with witnesses called. This is only fair. Dr. Ford is actually demanding the investigation, so there may be an empty chair there if they don’t have it. Anita Hill recently said there should be a complaint process for the scotus nominee. Who should know better than Anita Hill, a veteran of this process and a law professor?
These same right wing people now criticizing Dr. Ford, were calling for the death penalty against some wrongfully accused black teens in the Central Park jogging case.
If you read the comments section of the online sources listed above, you see how prejudicial some people continue to be about rape survivors, even in 2018! This doesn’t make me feel hopeful.
I saw an op-ed in the NYT written by the great Ron Klain. He had some great thoughts about how these cases should be handled appropriately, by using appropriate professionals first to conduct an investigation, then a hearing. This was also suggested by Anita Hill, who I believe is the ultimate expert, having been through the experience and being that she is a law professor. Klain also referenced one of “the most biting skits ever done by SNL,” showing the obnoxious behavior of the men on the Senate committee. Times have not changed a bit on the Republican side! In fact, they still have a few of the same obnoxious men on that same committee in 2018! It is time for a change! Grassley and Hatch are still there. I remember being shocked by the men on the Democratic side, who didn’t seem to take the allegations of sexual harassment seriously. I have always been a little reserved about Joe Biden, ever since that hearing, one of the men who is still around, though no longer in the Senate. I don’t think Biden stands a chance in this era, though I am sure he would be very different if he were sitting on the committee today. If you go back and look at the Anita Hill hearing, you will see that many of the comments did not age well. I remember being astounded at the time that much of the public did not seem to believe Anita Hill or take sexual harassment seriously. I think the tide is turning now, but if you look at many of the comment sections in stories throughout the media today, you would think some are still living in the stone age, absolute neanderthals, seeming to advocate dragging women around by the hair as a norm.
Republicans are trying to ram sexist alcoholic gambler Kavanugh, who supported torture and the Vince Foster lies, down the throat of the United States without evidence or witnesses or investigation.
Anita Hill has and had an impeccable reputation. She is in no way the person who was disgusting in that hearing. Clarence Thomas and the men conducting the hearing were beyond disgusting. The SNL skit regarding the hearing was not far off the reality of what happened. If you happen to rewatch it you would be amazed. It is one of the most biting skits ever produced by SNL. At least they were talking about harassment instead of assault. Though some think rape is funny, people who have a shred of human decency know otherwise.
I am kind of taking offence at the “Darth Vader” depiction of Anita Hill. Very impolite and obviously racist and sexist. Do better Jeff or you lose my vote on gocomics.com
Investigating this kind of thing isn’t what the FBI does (according to the all-knowing Donald Trump) and he’s not going to waste taxpayer money on yet another “witch hunt.”
Like the Access Hollywood tapes and Roy Moore, that was a long time ago, so forget about it. Boys will be boys, at least they were back when America used to be Great. MAGA.

Ford is receiving death threats, Republicans don’t even pretend to play nice or be fair.

As I recall, Anita Hill spent a substantial amount of time prepping for her Senate testimony with Nina Totenberg.
As I recall Hill admitted to having lied under oath.
As I recall, one of her corroborating witnesses was demonstrated to have lied about having discussed the matter with Hill.
As I recall Hill initially denied making multiple calls to Thomas after she no longer worked for him.

So, if Dr. Ford made up the story, why would she insist on an FBI investigation into the matter.
