Scorpions in Vietnam? I don’t know about all species of scorpion, but I do know that scorpions are ubiquitous in the Middle Eastern desert. You do have to check your footwear, your bunk and/or sleeping bag, or any place else that was previously dark, enclosed, and empty. I doubt the same species could survive in two such differing environments. I think he is actually trying to give this newb a valuable bit of advice now that he has his ear.
