Democrats, and many Republicans, understand that the United States has just been played by a two-bit, tin-horn dictator of a tiny, backwards country. Kim Jong Un got everything he wanted — his long-desired photo op and a pledge for the United States to stab long-time allies Japan and South Korea in the back with his pledge to scale back U.S. military presence, and Trump got vague, non-specific, non-verifiable generalities.
If Trump could have gotten a deal with North Korea that was anywhere near half as good as what Obama got with Iran (along with England, Germany, France, China and Russia — a broad international coalition) we would never hear the end of his bragging.
As it is, Trump failed miserably at the “Art of the Deal” (which was actually ghost-written by Tony Schwartz, who has provided much insight into Trump’s utter incoherence and incompetence) and we’re still going to get the bragging.
Kim Jong Un is 36. Trump turns 72 tomorrow (June 14). Trump literally got played by a brutal dictator half his age and twice as smart.
So what’s historic here…Lil Kim gave the same meaningless platitudes the DPRK has given every couple years since 1985. No timetable. No verification. No concessions. Nothing. And, oh yeah, they talked President-to-President about letting Dolt 45 profit by taking a gold-plated hotel dump in Pyongyang blowing up the Emoluments Clause. As a bonus the US made a propaganda film for him.
In return D2S ended joint exercises with the ROK. He enraged Japan and SK. He gave the the Norks exactly what they wanted – legitimacy, recognition of the regime, praise, and treating him as an equal in front of the world. And all this after scuttling our relationships with our closest allies.
Aaand America loses yet more status, more ground around the world that will be hard to regain. And rightly so. What country would ever trust us again after we let that idiot get elected?
Within one week, Trump alienated our closest allies and put the world’s worst dictator on equal standing to the president of the United States. How are YOU feeling Steve ?
Histronics are from Republicans and especially FOX. Actual results? NONE. Friggin’ Zero. He got the same deal as his five predecessors. He got taken for a ride at a cost of $30 million. He even paid for North Korea’s hotel bill. What a fool.
By the way, anyone else notice the similarities between Donnie and a character De Niro played in a recent movie? A power-mad wanna-be dictator with an incredibly bad haircut that was fighting against the FBI and used Television in his bid to take over the world and become it’s ultimate ruler. Go watch “The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle” and see the similarities between “Fearless Leader” and Trump. It’s uncanny!
Trump tweeted this morning that North Korea is no longer a nuclear threat. I guess all those warheads and missiles just faded away like the Cheshire cat. Trump trusts Kim, so there’s no need to verify.
In 1938 Breen could have drawn the same comic with Hitler and Chamberlain shaking hands with Churchill off to the side having a hissy fit. Wow, tRump must have shrunk (no longer 6’3") or Kim must have had a late growth spurt since they look to be the same height.
Okay! Now, Steve Breen will offer us a few editorial artworks that demonstrates the wonderful, positive, and valuable collusion between Kim and Trump. . . .
Hahaha. . . Just kidding. Breen’s talent for fantasy just doesn’t go in that direction.
Obama’s negotiated deal with Iran; including Western Allies. Includes conditions and verification procedures.
Republican reaction.
Trump’s off the cuff, spontaneous deal with North Korea; with no consultation, deliberation or cooperation with anyone other than our traditional adversaries.
Democrat reaction.
Breen’s version of histrionics is both selective and myopic.
While I used Chamberlain’s statement, there is in fact no real comparison. Trump is a fool, Chamberlain was not.
Before going to Munich, Chamberlain asked his military if they could win a war with Germany. The answer was in essence: “Not this year. We need at least a year to get ready.” And they did need that time to build up military strength; most importantly to build the new fighter planes and to work out how to use their new radar, the things that won the Battle of Britain. Chamberlain was not the gullible fool people make of him. He bought time for Britain.
Unlike Britain in 1938, the US has the military upper hand over an impoverished North Korea. The North Koreans know that using a nuclear weapon against the US will lead to a crushing response that leave none of their leadership in command of anything but a prison cell, if they manage to survive.
But for Trump to claim that things were settled, is simply the usual self-promotion, of no more reality than the claims to having the largest inaugural crowds ever. The difference, however, between all that self-serving BS and this is that it unsettles allies, and enables murderous despots for no reason except self gratification.
Chamberlain’s agreement may be seen as encouraging the murderous despots of that day, but he had to hold off a war that he would lose. Not the same stakes for Trump. Not at all.
Hmmm… A vague agreement which cannot be supervised between two inveterate liars. This is a summit one needs a bathyscaph to reach. I think I have more important things to think about, like scratching my ass.

The historic thing here, is exactly how far Trump will go to distract from the Mueller investigation.

Talk about histronics, Troll Trump says the NK nuclear threat is over.
NK still has the same weapons today that they had two days ago.
There is no proof that it is over. Liar Trump can not be trusted at all.
