She’s something the left and the right are united in mortal terror of: a sincere moderate Republican.

Ah, the S&L crisis – I remember it well! a whole bunch of people lost their life savings, a few people commited suicide, a few of Cowboy Ronnie’s cronies made millions and millions, a minor official went to prison while some government big shots were slapped on the wrist (remember the Keating 5 and senator John McCain!) and then the dust settled and life went on! Great times – Good fun!

“Largest financial scandal in the history of the world”? Isn’t the British government still paying off the South Sea bubble three centuries later?

How sweet, we thought the S&L crisis was a really big financial crisis. Those days of innocence and naïveté.

    Everything is super-sized these days.

Compared to the late 70’s, Americans now have much bigger financial misdeeds, healthcare bills, tuition, vehicles, and clothes.

None of these is an improvement.

I would like for someone to read the post by JOEYSMITH, above, and explain to me, please, his exact point. I can detect no actual “intelligence” being evident other than an inchoate and rather pathetic ‘dislike’ for our first black president!

I acknowledge the fact that I am rather slow, at times, and do not always grasp the ‘message’ in a post! I do not, however, feel I need to encourage him in his position by actually “asking” him to explain what he meant

If humour is finding a source of joy even in one’s problems, then this comic is finding a source of joy even in history.

“….never have so many, exerted themselves so mightily, to avoid taking personal responsibility for the roles they played. "

    .

That certainly is apropos of the bootlickers and a$$kissers today, in the Republican House and Senate who are enabling this National Disgrace, and doing nothing to stop it, for fear of incurring the Emporer’s wrath.

Easy to remember if the answer is always RESIGN.

Sometimes resigning isn’t enough if they are culpable for the crimes committed. But if you work for a bank and have a high position you are immune. The Same in the EU. Only Iceland and Sweden took over the banks (temporarily), arrested and prosecuted those in charge then fixed the bank so and no more problems. Here and in Europe the banks were fixed and no one was prosecuted except for one lowly bank clerk. So we are ripe for another one like 1929, 1987 & 2008.

Not that the republicans had any problem with the K5. If they hate McCain, it’s under orders from der trumpf.
