Um, wow…not only using racist stereotypes, but showing some major ignorance about how idiotic Trump’s moves were. Is he DEFENDING this idiocy? While at the same time, Trump has decided NOT to penalize China (which he hammered all through the campaign) because they bribed him. How about referring to that?

Nice of you to show off your ignorance Robert Ariail. Yeah we don’t need their stinkin’ oil; that can’t be sold anywhere else. And those products made in Mexico? Those are AMERICAN manufacturing plants called maquilladoros who won’t be able to assemble American goods on the cheap and will have to close. So their employees?, Guess what they will do? That’s right, come NORTH to look for work. Ah to bre an ignorant cartoonist, it requires no brains.

Our Enemies: Canada EU and other democratic countries. Our Friends: Russia China North Korea and other dictatorships. This is where we are now. The United States of America . Once a beacon of hope and freedom.

Canada’s tariffs designed “strategically to exert maximum pain politically for the president”.

China says all trade agreements off if Trump imposes tariffs . Do you think that means that Ivanka will lose all of her trademarks? Do you think that China will close her slave labor waged factories that manufacturers the cheap overpriced products that she sells here in the United States and Europe and elsewhere?? Do you think we are being good neighbors by imposing untenantable tariffs on products that we can’t get any place else for the same price?? Do you think the United States is the only country in the world that has sorghum or soybeans for sale?? So what will happen to our farmers who rely on foreign export markets like China?? Since the United States does not manufacture the variety of Steel types that we use here, where are we going to get them if we are taxing them and using tariffs to restrict trade for them? If Trump spends taxpayer money to throw financial support to dying Industries like coal mining, how much money is it going to take to keep them alive?? How many mountain tops will they have to blow up to find new coal sources? How many national parks are going to be sold off to greedy mine owners who want to strip resources for their own profit rather than the profit of the people who really own that land, common ordinary Americans? Do people really think that trade Wars are easy to win?? Have we learned nothing from the past about how to keep allies and trade pacts that profit both sides?? Does everyone think that we’ve really been short-changed in our trading deals?? If people took a closer look at those trade pacts, wouldn’t they see where other countries have given up what they consider crucial elements in order to trade with us?? When we end up standing alone in our dysfunctional future do you think Herr Dumpkoff is going to suffer the same deprivations as we common Americans will have to endure?? Or will he be living in luxury and opulence while the rest of America suffers poverty and deprivation????

I think the cartoon is deeply confused. Trump is the one who started the trade war by imposing tariffs. It’s Trump who is forcing the tariffs on his own allies. And now the allies are pushing back. They are saying “We don’t want the tariffs that you are imposing, but if you’re going to shoot first with your tariffs, we will have to respond. Please don’t make us do that.”

Trump is the one who walked away from the pledged word of the US and who is rejecting the WTO as a mechanism for organizing world trade peacefully. There is NO national security basis for these metal tariffs, and he knows it. He is just having a hissy fit, in part because he doesn’t understand the basics of trade and apparently never has. The upcoming G7 is now calling themselves the G6+1. Either we can be a constructive part of the world or we can sulk in our corner and make as many others miserable as we can. Meanwhile we have cheapened the word and bond of the US, so who can trust us to do anything that we sign or say. Tomorrow we will say and do something entirely different. We have screwed ourselves big time with this whole Trump disaster. Life is NOT a TV reality show, in spite of the Trumpian desire to make it so. (And who did kill JR? tune in next season to see.)

^ Yes, when America loses its abilities to compete in the marketplace, it’s obviously everyone else’s fault.

A while ago car stickers went from listing nation of origin, like US, to “North American” content. This was to disguise the fact “American” cars were mostly built in Mexico and Canada. BMW’s, Mazda, Mercedes, and KIA, had far more cars and content, MADE IN THE USA! But the simple fact that both Americans and our “friends” are finding out is that with Trump and company as “friend”, we don’t NEED ANY MORE ENEMIES!
