This is a bit of a re-do of a previous strip where Janis compliments Arlo on a wonderful meal. He then asks “Our usual deal?” to which she replies “Sure.”The final panel is of Janis carrying a small step-ladder into the kitchen while thinking to herself “You cook, I clean”(I had it hanging on our refrigerator for several years.)
My deal with the wife is “I cook, I clean”. That’s ‘cause I manage to mess up every utensil and culinary device in the house. I’m good. Just not efficient. :o)
Janis has gotten wiser! check to make sure the mess is reasonable BEFORE you agree to clean it. I don’t ask my hubby to clean up my jam making and my hubby doesn’t ask me to clean his pankcaking mess.
Hubby is the easiest man in the world to feed. He’ll eat just about anything once, and will often find a recipe on-line, go buy the ingredients, make it, and clean up. (Which usually involves sticking things into the dishwasher, but that’s OK.)

As far as I’m concerned, God made restaurants for a reason.

I suppose there is some pleasure in washing dishes and having a clean kitchen. I might try it some day.

You note that she did check the recipe to determine the extent of the mess she would clean up.

I’d be checking the recipe for ingredients my body doesn’t handle very well anymore.
